Virginia Wine of the Month Club Has New Owners

Louisa, VA – Excited about the future of Virginia wine and looking for a new challenge, Stewart and Dorothy Reynolds recently acquired the Virginia Wine Club from G. Willis Logan in a private transaction. The Reynolds moved the corporate headquarters from Stanardsville to Louisa.

Logan, who purchased the club from Berkley Mitchell in 1998, said, “I am very excited that the new owners have hit the ground running by participating in tasting panels, attending festivals and other industry events. While I will be consulting with them for the short term, I have been most impressed with their level of commitment. I wish them nothing but the best in the years ahead.”

Wine Club President Stewart Reynolds, an executive with United Parcel Service, has a significant logistics background and is expanding his wine palate. “I really like the ‘work’ of the tasting panel.”

Led by Tasting Panel Chairman and Virginia wine veteran Neil Williamson, these sessions provide me a great education about the various flavor profiles of different varietals and winemaking styles throughout the state,” Reynolds said.

Years of personal wine experience and travel help define Dorothy Reynolds’ wine palate. As Director of Marketing, her significant contribution to the club is focused on her clear understanding of consumer demand. As the front person at festivals she has a great rapport with club members. “I am not sure why but members are not shy when it comes to telling me what they like, and don’t like about the club. I am happy to provide the conduit to make sure their thoughts and desires can be acted on” she said.

Logan expressed his admiration for the Reynolds as they take on the mantle of club ownership. “They are fully engaged. I know they will take the club to a new level. While I will miss our shared time on the tasting panel, I know the club is in good hands moving forward,” Logan said, “I will also miss the many characters in the industry. I have truly been blessed to work with the great people that are Virginia Wine.”

Each month the Virginia Wine of the Month Club carefully hand-selects one or two bottles of wine from around the Commonwealth to ship to its membership. These monthly shipments provide a great way to try new wines and also make a great gift. For more information, see www.virginiawineclub.com.
