Richard Manages a Wine Shop!

By RICHARD LEAHY: VWG readers know me as a frequent contributor and advertising director. I’ve just donned a new hat, managing Wine Made Simple in the Townside complex in Charlottesville. The shop opened in early April and specializes in quality wines ranging from Virginia to around-the-world for under $20.00.

Joyce Watson is the owner, and her goal is to make it simple for customers to purchase great wines at good prices in an atmosphere that promotes ease of selection. We have style descriptors posted and excellent customer service by myself and the team. Educational programs are in the works.

There’s space at the store for 8-15 people to enjoy a custom-designed wine tasting with excellent hors d’oeuvres. “Classes” can range from focusing on one country or grape variety to exploring seasonal wine and food matches.

Wine Made Simple also offers gourmet food items and gift baskets including olive oil, cheese, tapenades and crackers, and wine accessories such as cork screws, bags and stoppers.

This Thursday 5/12 we have a Bordeaux chateau owner pouring her very vivacious Entre Deux Mers (sauvignon blanc blend) and red Bordeaux Superieur, from 5:00-6:30. Come see us at 2214 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, phone 434-296-WINE (9463), email winemadesimple@rocketmail.com. And visit us on Facebook!
