The Beverage Testing Institute’s 10th Annual World Value Wine Challenge Puts the Spotlight on Great, Affordable Wines for the Holidays

Last year, penny-wise consumers wished they could indulge in great wines for their holiday celebrations. This year, their frugal wishes have been answered, thanks to a recession-fueled explosion of high-quality, value-oriented brands in the marketplace. But how does one choose the best wines from sea of brands on the shelves? The 2010 World Value Wine Challenge (WVWC) results serve as a definitive wine-shopping guide for buyers looking to make smart and tasty decisions for holiday gifts and celebrations. The WVWC focuses on wines retailing $20 and under and has Top-10 lists in four price-based categories: $8 and under, $8-$10, $10-$15, and $15-$20. For this 10th annual event, Beverage Testing Institute (BTI) received nearly 600 entries, and found many great values in all categories. Here are a few standouts:
