Well Hung Vineyard, VA, Wins Gold for Viognier

Virginia winery Well Hung Vineyard

Great Viognier from Virginia's Well Hung Vineyard was recognized by Vineyard and Winery Management's Women in Wine Competition.

Viticulturalist Amy Steers would draw attention in any trade. At over 6 foot tall and model-slim (cheekbones to match), she cuts a striking figure among the vines. She was recently honored by Vineyard & Winery Management with a Gold Medal for her Well Hung Viognier 2010, made just outside Charlottesville, VA, in the 2011 International Women’s Wine Competition.

Amy says, “We have been asked, more often than we anticipated, whether or not Well Hung Vineyard hosts tours and tastings.  While we are excited and honored that there is enough interest in our wine that people want to come tour the facilities, there… are… no… facilities.  We are a small operation (for now…) with a small vineyard.  We haul our grapes to Michael Shaps’s custom crush facility; we don’t have a winery of our own.  Hopefully in the future we will be able to host Well Hung events on our property, but as it stands, we just don’t have the appropriate facilities.  So keep checking back- we are an ever-expanding operation and we’d love nothing more than to be able to give tours and tastings and the whole lot.” Well worth looking into!
