New manager Cheryl Ketcham, who raises miniature Dexter cattle nearby, says, “I’m very excited to join the Farmers Market for its 10th anniversary season. It’s such a wonderful event…to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, cheese and meats, barbecue, crafts and more from our area, along with live music and kid’s activities.”
The market, at 115 Main Street, Smithfield (757-375-3031) is open March 31, then every Saturday morning from Memorial Day til Labor Day. Pick up some picnic fixings in Smithfield, and travel down to Pungo Ridge Winery (757-426-1665) in Virginia Beach, to sample some blackberry wine. Then work your way back up to Richmond, stopping at Williamsburg Winery , Saude Creek Vineyards , and New Kent Winery ! Ambitious, we know!
